I can't believe we reached the end of 2018. Reading wise it was a great year, I read a good part of my never ending TBR, I found some new and amazing authors and I finished some truly amazing series. Some of them long running. While I took some of 2018 off from blogging I still kept on reading and I actually finished my Goodreads goal early this year :)

If you wanna check my 2018 Goodreads goal and books out you can find it here.

I always think it will be easy to find my top 12 books but it really never is. There are so many great books I read this year it was hard for me to choose. But choose , I did ..... lol

Here they are... please keep in mind that not all books are 2018 releases and are just books that I read in 2018. Also there is no order to them, I just post them as I picked them out in no particular order ;)

Let me know what some of your favorites were from  2018.

Now I Rise, The Conqueror's Saga by Kiersten White

I really enjoyed this book a lot but more than anything I enjoyed Lada in this book. I'm looking forward to the next book, even though somebody already spoiled somethings openly just as an update on a site :(

Now I Rise (The Conqueror's Saga #2)

Lada Dracul has no allies. No throne. All she has is what she’s always had: herself. After failing to secure the Wallachian throne, Lada is out to punish anyone who dares to cross her blood-strewn path. Filled with a white-hot rage, she storms the countryside with her men, accompanied by her childhood friend Bogdan, terrorizing the land. But brute force isn’t getting Lada what she wants. And thinking of Mehmed brings little comfort to her thorny heart. There’s no time to wonder whether he still thinks about her, even loves her. She left him before he could leave her.

What Lada needs is her younger brother Radu’s subtlety and skill. But Mehmed has sent him to Constantinople—and it’s no diplomatic mission. Mehmed wants control of the city, and Radu has earned an unwanted place as a double-crossing spy behind enemy lines. Radu longs for his sister’s fierce confidence—but for the first time in his life, he rejects her unexpected plea for help. Torn between loyalties to faith, to the Ottomans, and to Mehmed, he knows he owes Lada nothing. If she dies, he could never forgive himself—but if he fails in Constantinople, will Mehmed ever forgive him?

As nations fall around them, the Dracul siblings must decide: what will they sacrifice to fulfill their destinies? Empires will topple, thrones will be won . . . and souls will be lost.

Thunderhead, Arc of a Scythe by Neal Shusterman

This book made it on here because it was much better than the first and had a lot of plot twists and some big surprises that I didn't see coming.

33555224

Rowan has gone rogue, and has taken it upon himself to put the Scythedom through a trial by fire. Literally. In the year since Winter Conclave, he has gone off-grid, and has been striking out against corrupt scythes—not only in MidMerica, but across the entire continent. He is a dark folk hero now—“Scythe Lucifer”—a vigilante taking down corrupt scythes in flames.

Citra, now a junior scythe under Scythe Curie, sees the corruption and wants to help change it from the inside out, but is thwarted at every turn, and threatened by the “new order” scythes. Realizing she cannot do this alone—or even with the help of Scythe Curie and Faraday, she does the unthinkable, and risks being “deadish” so she can communicate with the Thunderhead—the only being on earth wise enough to solve the dire problems of a perfect world. But will it help solve those problems, or simply watch as perfection goes into decline?

Stalking Jack the Ripper,Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco

This book I put on here simply because I loved it so much, which surprised me since I'm not a historical fiction type. But this book just hit it right with me on every aspect.

 33784284

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

The story's shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

This Savage Song, Monsters of Verity by Victoria Schwab

This book and the second one really, were a must add for me. They were just so different from my normal reads and heartbreaking but also beautiful

23299512

There’s no such thing as safe in a city at war, a city overrun with monsters. In this dark urban fantasy from author Victoria Schwab, a young woman and a young man must choose whether to become heroes or villains—and friends or enemies—with the future of their home at stake. The first of two books.

Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city—a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives.

Children of Blood and Bone, Legacy of Orïsha by Tomi Adeyemi

I really enjoyed this book, the culture, the magic system, the world and everything that came with it. But to be honest with the recent drama surrounding the author I'm not sure I want to support her any longer and continue on with the series, we will see. In any case this book was still one of my favorites this year.

Until We're More,Fighting For Her by Cindi Madsen

I really don't that much contemporary romance but when I do I must include Cindi Madsen, she is one of my favorite author and her books never let me downs. This was one of them

40954477

Chelsea is smart, funny, gorgeous, and the best friend I’ve ever had. Ever since she left, I’ve been a wreck. I’ve been focused on keeping my family’s MMA gym afloat while I train and coach fighters, anything to not miss her more. But now she's finally back, along with her grumpy, possessive cat, and things are weird between us.

By weird, I mean I can’t stop thinking about her in that way. She’s in the room next door, and it takes all my control not to storm in there, sweep her up, and bring her back to my bed. Even stranger, I’m pretty sure she’d be into it.

And this time, I’m not going to stop fighting until we’re more.

The Cruel Prince, The Folk of the Air by Holly Black

I think what I liked most about this book was the dysfunctional family dynamics.

26032825

Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.
