I finally got my December round-up ready. Sorry took so long but I got busy and a bit lazy at the end of December :/
I only read and reviewed 5 books for December, I read a few more but didn't get the reviews done. And since I already posted a January review I will add the two I didn't get reviewed into the January mix.
I found a new and very promising series and if you like urban fantasy and paranormal romance I really think you will like The Blood Scion by Nazarea Andrews . I really loved it and looking forward to the next book very much. ;)
Other than that I read more of the Chicagoland Vampires series, some books better than others and at some point I wasn't really sure if I would continue, but I did and will finish the series, since it got much better again after a few books. I'm glad I stuck with it :)
Anyways, for January my goal will be a few more review copies and after that getting back to the Chicagoland Vampires series, hoping to get caught up to the latest book in the series, since I just got approved for the newest book in the series that comes out March 1st :)
Actually, my overall goal this year is less review copies or at least not requesting so many other than book and series that I'm already reading . I will still do reviews for authors that request a review.
But mainly I like to read some more of the books I have had sitting on my TBR forever. I also didn't set my goal very high this year, only 50 books if I get more that is awesome. But if not that it's also okay. I just know that some months get busy and I wont be able to read as much and don't want to have to rush through books again to get my goal done.
Anyways, hope you all had a great December and Holidays and everyone staying warm.
Here are my few December reads, as always the buy links will be in the review I link.
Happy Reading :)
Tarnished by Kate Jarvik Birch
Freedom comes at a cost…
Ella was genetically engineered to be the perfect pet—graceful, demure…and kept. In a daring move, she escaped her captivity and took refuge in Canada. But while she can think and act as she pleases, the life of a liberated pet is just as confining as the Congressman’s gilded cage. Her escape triggered a backlash, and now no one’s safe, least
of all the other pets. But she’s trapped, unable to get back
to Penn—the boy she loves—or help the girls who need her.
Back in the United States, pets are turning up dead. With help from a very unexpected source, Ella slips deep into the dangerous black market, posing as a tarnished pet available to buy or sell. If she’s lucky, she’ll be able to rescue Penn and expose the truth about the breeding program. If she fails, Ella will pay not only with her life, but the lives
of everyone she’s tried to save…

The Blood Scion by Nazarea Andrews
I was just a reporter, trying to stay ahead of my student loans. I knew the rules, and I followed them.
I thought I knew how the world worked—humans lived their petty little lives in the safety of the sun. We loved and fought and—when the sun sank—we scurried behind our walls and lived in fear. That is when the monsters came out to play.
And even in the safety of the sun, we knew who ruled us.
The Houses. And their Scions.
Everyone knows the great Houses and their Scions—they are feared and loved and hated and envied. They are the gods who walk the shadows and rule all of our lives. They are salvation and death.
And somehow, I am one of them.

Hard Bitten by Chloe Neill
Times are hard for newly minted vampire Merit. Ever since shapeshifters announced their presence to the world, humans have been rallying against supernaturals—and they’re camping outside of Cadogan House with protest signs that could turn to pitchforks at any moment. Inside its doors, things between Merit and her Master, green-eyed heartbreaker Ethan Sullivan, are tense. But then the mayor of Chicago calls Merit and Ethan to a clandestine meeting and tells them about a violent vamp attack that has left three women missing. His message is simple: get your House in order. Or else.
Merit needs to get to the bottom of this crime, but it doesn’t help that she can’t tell who’s on her side. So she secretly calls in a favor from someone who’s tall, dark, and part of an underground vamp group that may have some deep intel on the attack. Merit soon finds herself in the heady, dark heart of Chicago’s supernatural society—a world full of vampires who seem to be ready to fulfill the protesting human’s worst fears, and a place where she’ll learn that you can’t be a vampire without getting a little blood on your hands.
Drink Deep by Chloe Neill
Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and recently turned vampire Merit can’t tell if this is the darkness before the dawn or the calm before the storm. With the city iself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal registration act, times haven’t been this precarious for vampires since they came out of the closet. If only they could lay low for a bit, and let the mortals calm down.
That’s when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black-and things really start getting ugly.
Chicago’s mayor insists it’s nothing to worry about, but Merit knows only the darkest magic could have woven a spell powerful enough to change the very fabric of nature. She’ll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who’s behind this, and stop them before it’s too late for vampires and humans alike.
Biting Cold by Chloe Neill
Turned into a vampire against her will, twenty-eight-year-old Merit found her way into the dark circle of Chicago’s vampire underground, where she learned there was more to supernaturals than met the eye—and more supernaturals than the public ever imagined. And not all the secrets she learned were for sharing—among humans or inhumans.
Now Merit is on the hunt, charging across the stark American Midwest, tailing a rogue supernatural intent on stealing an ancient artifact that could unleash catastrophic evil on the world. But Merit is also the prey. An enemy of Chicagoland is hunting her, and he’ll stop at nothing to get the book for himself. No mercy allowed. No rules apply. No lives spared. The race is on.
